Michael Morgan

Academic Dean, Associate Professor of Historical Theology

Before coming to Tennent, Michael, hand in hand with his wife, Kate, served in inner-city, prison, and church-planting ministries for over twenty years, fourteen as the pastor at Calvary Wellspring. Michael has studied at the University of Kansas (Bachelor of Arts, Humanities), Gateway Seminary (Master of Divinity), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry), and the University of Leicester in the UK (Doctor of Philosophy). At Leicester, Michael researched the clergy networks of William Wilberforce, the parliamentary leader whose efforts culminated in the abolition of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. From 2014-2021, he served as an adjunct faculty member at Gateway Seminary, teaching courses on Classics of Christian Devotion, pre- and post-Reformation Church History, and Systematic Theology. He’s been a guest lecturer at Ravencrest Bible School, a Council Member for God Centered Life Ministries, the Board President of Colorado Family Life Center, on the Advisory Team for the Rocky Mountain Campus of Gateway Seminary, and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Calvary Family of Churches, as well as an elder at his local church. He’s also the author of John Newton: Catalyst for Compassion. Michael has been deeply influenced by the devotion of the Puritans and the zeal of the Clapham Sect, a network of 18th-century reformers who battled slavery, tackled illiteracy, orphan care, and prison reform, and endeavored to send missionaries to the ends of the earth. At Tennent, Michael serves as the Academic Dean and Associate Professor of Historical Theology. He enjoys books and coffee, time in the mountains with his wife and three amazing children, and loves teaching about the majesty of Jesus and mobilizing leaders for kingdom impact.
